So this all starts when we were back in Murray, and Mom has something called "Music Store". She lays out goodies that she's bought at yard sales and consignment stores. We "buy" things using play money that we get every week at our lesson. So what does this have to do with toothpaste? Well, at our last music store, there was a book called Toothpaste Millionaire and it's about a boy who makes toothpaste. I got the book for Josiah and he took it to Spain to read it. I will admit that I was also curious and wanted to read it.
Josiah is really sensitive about people touching his books, so it took me awhile to read it (a few days is awhile for me) . That's why I'm just now making toothpaste. The boy in the book (Rufus) uses corn starch, flour, water, and flavoring. That's it. He starts out selling it in his town and ends up getting orders from all around the US. He makes a million dollars even though he only gets a profit of 1 cent a jar. If you want to find out what happens at the end, read the book.
Mom gave me permission to experiment in the kitchen, so I did and came up with a recipe:
2 big spoonfuls of flour
1 big spoonful of cornstarch
1 1/2 big spoonfuls of water
1 1/2 big spoonfuls flavoring
Feel free to try making your own toothpaste, or you can buy some of mine. We'll be back home in a couple of months, so you can talk to us then. Cost is 10 cents a jar (we don't know where to get tubes) .
